Ketu Mahadasha is a 7-year period in the Vimshottari dasha system, traditionally associated with detachment, spirituality, research, sudden endings and insight. Ketu is the Moon’s south node, a shadow point, and like Rahu its results depend on its house, sign and conjunctions.

What Ketu represents

Where Rahu wants more, Ketu lets go. It’s linked to:

  • Spirituality and moksha
  • Past-life skills and intuition
  • Research, coding, the occult and technical depth
  • Separation and sudden endings
  • Isolation and introspection

Table of what Ketu Mahadasha can bring and challenge in inner life, work and relationships

How Ketu’s house shapes the dasha

  • Ketu in the 12th: spiritual growth, foreign retreats, expenses.
  • Ketu in the 10th: career shifts, unconventional work.
  • Ketu in the 4th: changes at home or in property.
  • Ketu in the 7th: distance or unusual dynamics in partnership.

Ketu also acts through the planet ruling its sign and the planets it sits with.

Antardashas

Ketu’s antardashas run Ketu, Venus, Sun, Moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury. Ketu-Ketu (about 5 months) and Ketu-Rahu (about a year) are often the most unsettled; Ketu-Venus (about 14 months) and Ketu-Jupiter (about 11 months) are often supportive. See Vimshottari Dasha for the calculation.

Remedies and approach

  • Worship Lord Ganesha; recite “Om Ketave Namah”.
  • Meditation and quiet routines help Ketu’s restless detachment.
  • Avoid impulsive resignations or breakups; give decisions time.
  • Feed street dogs, a traditional Ketu remedy.
  • Cat’s eye gemstone only after a full chart reading.

The next dasha after Ketu is Venus: see Venus Mahadasha.
